How to Install Cacti Monitoring Tool on Debian 9

In this tutorial we will show you how to install cacti monitoring tool on debian 9. For you don’t know, cacti is an open-source monitoring and graphing tool designed as a front-end application,cacti used RRDtool for data logging. Cacti can monitor network and server cpu process or other using custom plugin.

Prerequisites

This article assumes you have at least basic knowledge of linux, know how to use the shell, root user or non-root user account with sudo privileges set up on your server.

Step 1 – Update repositories list

First we need to update repository database using these command below

Step 2 – install cacti and additional module

Follow instruction appeared on screen
choose web server you will use , in this example we will use apache2

Install-Cacti-on-Debian-9-Webserver-for-Cacti

Click Yes to configure a database for cacti or click No to set up a database manually.

Enter your password for Cacti user for cacti database, the password for database not for weblogin.

And reenter the password

Step 3 – Configure cacti

In Debian 9 , we do not need configure cacti over web interface like other operating system.

Open up a browser, and enter cacti url like these

Login to Cacti using cacti default password

user : admin
password : admin
